According to a study by ICRA, CNG is the second most favorite fuel of the people of India. CNG is much cheaper than other fuels, which is why it is more popular than other fuels available in India. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has also announced in a seminar that by 2030 they will open 17500 CNG stations in India. This means that the government wants you to shift from petrol to CNG or electric vehicles. Automobile manufacturers such as Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, and Hyundai India are the dominators of CNG-powered cars in India. Let’s know what is a CNG kit below:

What Is A CNG Kit?
Let us tell you that a petrol engine car cannot be converted into a diesel car and a diesel engine car cannot be converted into a petrol car. But a petrol engine can be converted into CNG by installing a CNG tool kit, or vice versa. After installing the CNG tool kit, it is up to the driver to decide on which fuel the vehicle should run. But let me tell you that the vehicle cannot start with CNG fuel, for that you will need petrol or diesel. After some time of starting, the car will shift to CNG fuel. And if you want, you can shift it back to petrol or diesel with the help of the button provided. A CNG kit allows your vehicle’s internal combustion engine to also run on CNG. The kit includes:
- Electric Control Unit: A new or modified ECU that manages the flow of CNG into the engine.
- Pressure Gauge: Shows the gas pressure and ensures it matches the car to supply fuel of ideal volume into the engine.
- Refill Valve: The valve where the CNG refilling pipe is connected at the pump.
- High-Pressure Tubes: Carry the compressed gas through the system and prevent gas explosions.
- CNG Tank: Stores the Compressed Natural Gas in the vehicle.
- Clamps: It guards the pipes operating from the CNG cylinder to the engine.
- Regulator: It stops the movement of a CNG gas flow if the pressure gets too high.
Types Of CNG Kits Available In India
There are 2 types of CNG tool kits available in the Indian market. People think that there is not much difference between the two but let me tell you that there are many differences between the two kits. Below we have explained both the tool kits in detail and also told which one is better.
Venturi CNG Kit
Do not get the Venturi CNG Tool Kit installed in your vehicle even by mistake because there are many disadvantages of it. It is easy and cheap to install this kit in the car but it is expensive to maintain it after that. Frequent cleaning or maintenance is needed because there’s no control over how much fuel goes into the engine. Also, cars with Venturi CNG Kits have slow acceleration.
Sequential CNG Kit
Let us tell you that the Sequential kit is more expensive than Venturi. But the Sequential tool kit gives you much better mileage than the Venturi kit. The sequential CNG kit controls the fuel flow into the engine and works only with fuel-injected vehicles, where fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber.
