What Is CNG In A Bike?
What is CNG? We have already told you in the above section of this blog that CNG is a fuel. And now Bajaj company has also launched the world’s first bike which runs on both CNG and petrol.
Does CNG increase mileage?
In today’s time, mileage is an important vital for everyone. Because the more the mileage, the more beneficial it will be as you will not have to fill fuel again and again, which will save you money. As per the studies, we have come to know that CNG engines provide more mileage as compared to petrol or diesel-powered vehicles.
Tips To Increase The Mileage Of CNG Vehicles
Well, there are many ways by which you can increase the mileage of your CNG vehicle, but we have mentioned 2 best ways below:
- Clean Air Filter: There is a simple logic behind cleaning the air filter and that is CNG is lighter than air. So the dirt blocks the air filter due to which the filter gets dirty very quickly. Because of this, the air does not pass and then the vehicle is not able to give the best mileage.
- Maintain Tyre Pressure: We would like to tell you that there is different pressure in the tires of two-wheelers, different in four-wheelers, and different in big vehicles. So we have to always keep checking every week whether the air pressure in our vehicle is in the right amount or not. It is necessary to do this because tires are a medium to keep the vehicle connected to the road, and if the friction between the tire and the road is not proper then the vehicle mileage will automatically start decreasing.

Why CNG Is Not Used In Bikes
Bajaj has made and launched the world’s first bike that runs on CNG. Earlier also many companies had tried to make CNG bikes but all the companies failed. Many companies said that the pickup of a CNG-powered bike would be very low. But Bajaj has proved this wrong. Bajaj has also launched the Freedom 123 bike with a CNG & petroleum engine.
Is a CNG bike safe?
This is the first question that comes to everyone’s mind, is CNG bike safe? So the answer is yes, these bikes are safe to ride on the road. CNG-fitted bikes go through a lot of tests and safety measures as the company gives utmost importance to customer safety. Below we have written some safety measures that the company follows before launching the CNG bike.
- CNG Tank Safety Measures: The name of the organization that measures the safety of the tank in a bike is PESO. And until this organization does not give a passing certificate to any vehicle, that vehicle cannot be launched in the market. PESO conducts the tests very carefully. In these tests, pressure is applied to the CNG tank using hydraulic pressure to ensure that the tank does not leak under such pressure.
- Impact Resistance: In this test, the bike is crashed and it is checked whether the CNG tank has suffered any damage or not. There are two major tests in this, first in which a 10-ton truck is taken over the bike, and second in which the bike is crashed at a speed of 60 kilometers per hour.
- Extreme Condition Testing: CNG tanks are tested under harsh circumstances to confirm durability. After some time, tests are again conducted on it to see whether its structure is still as strong as before or not. Hope you got the answer to what is CNG in a bike.
